Jay Leno undergoes surgery for 'significant' burns from car fire

Comedian and television host Jay Leno had surgery this week.

Also a second procedure will be required in the coming days,

Because after suffering "significant" burns while working on the car over the weekend, his doctor said Wednesday.

Dr. Peter H. Grossman, medical director of Grossman Burn Centers in West Hills, California, said that

Mr. Leno suffered burns to his face, arms and chest.

He described them as having "deep second-degree burns, possibly with third-degree burns".

The doctor said the deepest burn was on Mr. Leno's face.

The doctor said he expected Mr. Leno to make a full recovery,

But due to the seriousness it may take "a little longer" than what the comedian had initially anticipated.

Mr. Leno suffered burns to his face, arms and chest.

Because after suffering "significant" burns while working on the car over the weekend, his doctor said Wednesday.
